About Saint Maximilian Kolbe
Saint Maximilian Kolbe was born on January 8, 1894, in Poland. From a young age, he displayed a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, which guided his spiritual journey. During World War II, Saint Maximilian Kolbe was arrested by the Nazis for his opposition to their regime and his efforts to protect the Jewish community. When a fellow prisoner was chosen to die, Saint Maximilian Kolbe volunteered to take his place, demonstrating his extraordinary love for his neighbor and his willingness to sacrifice his life.
